Amy Kirk
Director of Development and Operations
Joining Mountain Shadows 2025
Amy is originally from Colorado and has spent most of her life exploring the mountains and forests of this beautiful state. From 2012-2022, she lived in Vermont where she and her husband learned to garden, raise bees and chickens, and even tap their two maple trees to make syrup. Their daughter, Evelyn, who is in the Elementary program, was born in Vermont and is a passionate caretaker of our Mother Earth. In her spare time, Amy is either running mountain trails, tackling another home project, or dreaming up the next great adventure with her family.
Amy received her BSc in Environmental Design with a focus in Architecture which she practiced for 6 years, followed by a MA in International Development. For 13 years she worked on USAID grant programs, traveling the world and supporting non-profit organizations in their respective Missions; everything from developing women's leadership skills in Afghanistan, conserving rainforests in Indonesia, and reducing plastic waste around the world, among many others. She has managed large, complex grant projects and supported dozens of organizations in strengthening their institutional capacity. She is passionate about continuing education and has received certificates in Global Leadership, Sustainable Food and Farming, and Corporate Sustainability. She is thrilled for the opportunity to bring this experience to the Director of Development and Operations role at Mountain Shadows.
